How can I configure WebTV to use Trip.Net?

Because Trip.Net has no control over the internal software installed with WebTV, and the various options available, we cannot guarantee service using a WebTV terminal. The following is the procedure to use WebTV with Trip.Net. If you experience problems, you should first contact WebTV for assistance.

  1. Once you are connected, select Setup from the sidebar.

  2. From the Setup menu, click Dialing.

  3. From the Dialing Options menu, click Use your ISP.
Note: If you do not have the USE YOUR ISP option, contact WebTV Customer Care at 1-800-GO-WEBTV to activate OpenISP.

  4. Read the Using your own ISP information then, click the Continue button.

  5. Read the Is using your own ISP right for you? information then, click the Continue button.

  6. Read the Should you use WebTV to connect instead information then, click the Continue button.

  7. In the Service provider name text box, type Trip.net
  8. In the Login name text box, type your dial-up username.
  9. In the password text box, type your dial-up password.
  10. In the Modem dial-in number text box, type your local Trip.Net access number. Remember to check with your local telephone company to make sure that the numbers you choose is a local toll-free call.
  11. In the Backup dial-in number text box, type your secondary local Trip.Net access number.
  12. Click the Done button.

  13. Click the Continue button to allow your WebTV Internet terminal to hang up and reconnect.

  14. Click the Use your ISP button. A confirmation screen will provide you with the option to use your own ISP or to use WebTV. Selecting Use your ISP will cause the WebTV Internet Terminal to redial using your ISP.
